MISSION
To promote, support and preserve DC music and film through performance, education, and advocacy.
PERFORMANCE
The Home Rule Music and Film Preservation produces live musical performances, concerts, film screenings, and festivals. Our signature event is the Home Rule Music Festival which celebrates DC music and culture.
EDUCATION
The Home Rule Music and Film Preservation Foundation offers workshops, classes and hands-on experience to youth so they can develop confidence and skills in music production, audio production, filmmaking, photography, and graphic design.
ADVOCACY
The Home Rule Music and Film Preservation Foundation supports policy and legislation that expands funding and opportunities for Washington, DC’s cultural arts programs, arts in public spaces, and community arts and music festivals that unite the community together. We argue that collaboration between local government, the business community, and cultural organizations is an essential driver for economic opportunity that enhances the city’s creative vibrancy and heritage.
We also support more funding for additional music and arts education classes including dance, music, theater, media arts, and visual arts in the DC Public School system.
